With the demand for domestic snow holidays at an all-time high, and the Beijing Winter Olympics on the forefront of people minds thanks to our ambassadors such as Bronze Medallist Tess Coady, Thredbo is heading full-steam ahead into winter.

For guests intending to visit eight days or more throughout the season, we recommend guests consider a season pass which offers greater value for money and allows unlimited visits. Like Day Passes, a Season Pass provides access to Thredbo’s network of lifts, including Australia’s Only Alpine Gondola, plus a huge variety of terrain for all skill levels including Australia’s longest run, Supertrail and Australia’s highest lifted point.

What to get excited about in Winter 2022?

Well, everything! Other than incredible skiing and snowboarding, winter will see Thredbo bring back the incredible village atmosphere it’s renowned for, with a full calendar of events including live entertainment and après events, kid’s festivals, skiing and snowboarding events, terrain parks and a series of unique on-mountain experiences.

The calendar schedule is packed this year with a range of on and off-snow events kicking off with the Torah Bright Mini Shred on 10 July, a day of fun for all mini shredders where they can learn the skills of the park from Torah and her pro friends.

For those looking for some healthy competition, Thredbo Snow Series is open to every type of skier and snowboarder allowing them to challenge their friends in five different disciplines in a friendly and supportive environment. The first event, Rails is set to kick off on 25 July.

Down in Thredbo’s vibrant village, the famous après event First Base will be back. The Vintage Après Ski Soiree presented by Canadian Club hosts some of Australia’s best artists and is a highlight of the Thredbo social calendar.

It’s going to be a very special year for the iconic Top to Bottom as the event on 6 August will be a celebration of its 30th edition! Australia’s richest, fastest and longest downhill is a race open to skiers and snowboarders and features a sprint down Supertrail at sunrise.

These events are just the beginning… the 8th annual Transfer Banked Slalom will be back on 12 August, families will love the Kids Snow Festivals in July and September and there a range of unique on-mountain experiences including Snowcat Dinners at the famous Kareela Hutte or Merritts Mountain House plus once-in-a-lifetime Sunrise Sessions. 

 Thredbo Village has over 30 places to relax, sip and dine, a range of shopping options, plenty of accommodation and fireworks and flare runs each weekend for the whole family.

Over the summer, the mountain crew have upgraded parts of the resort to make this winter bigger and better for all guests. We have a new Easy Rider T-Bar in the Cruiser Area, increasing rider capacity by over 35%. Friday Flat will also be receiving six new fixed snowmaking guns and four mobile snowmaking guns, increasing the amount of snow coverage at the dedicated beginner’s area and across the whole resort.
